Madressah

At Masjid-E-Umer we have a Madressah (Arabic School)  with approximately 300 Boys and Girls from the age of 5 to 18 Years attending daily between the hours of 4 30pm & 6 30pm  Monday to Friday . Our aim is to teach children about Islam and to instill in them  the ethos of Islam (Deen), equip all to face and deal with the pressures of the times we live in and prepare  their young hearts and minds so as to make them be proud of the peace loving religion they follow.

We admit students to the Madrassah from the age of 5. The students progress in the Madressa from Year to year until they complete the Holy Qur’aan. Other aspect of Islamic knowledge is also taught to the child which includes:

1. Basic Fiqh (rules as regards to Wudhu, Ghusl, Salah Fast, Zakat, Hajj, Marriage, Divorce, and special Masaail excusive to females)

2. Rules of Tajweed- correct recitation of the Holy Qur’aan

3. Islamic History- the Era of our Prophet PBUH

4. Aqhlaq- Islamic teachings as regards to good conduct and behaviour.

We have two classes that specialises in the memorisation of the Holy Qur’aan. Each class accommodates approximately 14 students. The timings for these classes are from 4-30 pm to 7-30 pm, Monday to Friday. To date nine students have completed the memorisation of the complete Holy Qur’aan the names of these students are as follows:

Notes

As the children starting Madrassah come for admission at different ages strict implementation of the syllabus is very difficult. This syllabus should be used as a guide to good and solid foundation for a Muslim child new to learning about Religion.

Covering of all topics would be accordance to the child’s ability/attendance/attitude to learning.

The Syllabus is covering basic general knowledge for a Muslim Child from the age of 5 to the age of 14-16.

The aim is to introduce the child to basic Islamic knowledge in different aspects of Religion preparing the child to live his/her life according to Islam

Encouragement must be given to further his/her Islamic knowledge, by good preparation of lessons.

It is not necessary that all the books/topics mentioned will be covered in the timeframe detailed above. It could take longer which would mean a child would stay longer in a particular class.

Term Time: 1- Shawwal to Rabi ul Awwal  2- Rabi ul Aakir to Shabaan

This syllabus has been prepared by Imam Muhammad Shoyaib with the students of Madrassah Targheeb ul Qur’aan (run under Masjid e Umer Trust, Walthamstow London) in mind.
