FOODBANK COLLECTOIN 2015- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Alhumdulillah, (All praise to God) we finished delivering your fantastic donation to the community's food banks. The food was delivered to Ruksana Khan Foundation as well as Eat or Heat. It is at these times we need try to make a habit of regularly donating to these places even if it is once every few months on an individual basis.

These are small and easy deeds that our Beloved Messenger (sallalahu alayhi wasallam) taught us.

Imam al-Tirmidhi reported that the Prophet said:

"O people! Spread the greeting of peace, feed (the poor and needy), behave kindly to your relatives, offer prayer when others are asleep, and (thus) enter Paradise in peace."

Where can we find better advice that this? In these times, when there is so much hatred, we need to spread such teachings and show all the beautiful character of the Beloved Messenger (sallahu alayhi waslam).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE that helped, be it by donating, leafleting or delivering food. We pray that Allah blesses you ALL and most importantly may Allah accept this small action of kindness to people less fortunate than us.  May allah be pleased with us each time someone benefits from the food donated.

Also a huge thanks to the foodbanks themselves for accepting our donation and for the work they do all year round.

Here are some pictures of the donations.

- Boxes of cereal

- Canned beans (inc Baked beans)

- Pasta / Rice

- Canned vegetables

- Noodles / Couscous

- Canned soup

- Canned spaghetti

- Sugar

- Lentils

- Long Life milk

- Teabags / Coffee

- Marmalade/Jam

- Pasta Sauce

- Squash

- Canned fish

Through your participation we hope to raise food for our local food banks (including Eat or Heat and others too) that are helping families who are struggling to provide food for themselves and families.

Please drop off your donated food to Masjid e Umer (79 Queens Road Walthamstow E17) from this THURSDAY 1ST JANUARY 2015 TO SUNDAY 4TH JANUARY 2015, anytime between 1pm and 8pm.

"(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.'" (The Holy Quran, 76:8-9)

Sisters Meeting TOMORROW 14th December 2014

***Attention All sisters ***

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

A meeting has been organised tomorrow at Masjid-e-Umer for only sisters to voice their concerns to the police directly regarding the recent incidents in the Boundary Road area.

Sisters are requested to attend and let your concerns be heard, failure to do so can result in the police failing to protect the women in the community.

The main purpose of this meeting will be for SISTERS to get the assurance that the police are there to help and understand what can be reported if there is or will be an incident.

The meeting will إن شاء الله take place at 11:00am tomorrow (Sunday 14th December 2014) at the Masjid via the Chelmsford Road entrance.

Please can all sisters attend and invite others.

As a community we all need to play an important part understanding how to protect both women and children!

و عليكم السلام و رحمة الله و بركاته

!!! DON'T LET THIS FALL ON DEAF EARS !!!

Meeting between the community, MP Stella Creasy and the Police

A very informative meeting took place after jumma between the community, MP Stella Creasy and the Police.

A lot can be said but the main points that I gained from the meeting is

-The police have assured us that following the recent incidents there will be more police presence and are doing all they can with the information presented to them. They will continue to work hard with the community to stop crime and keep everyone safe regardless of faith or nationality. We hope they stick to this by action and not word's.

The following are points that we as muslims need to take on board:

-Muslims have a responsibility to report when any crime takes place if you don't report the crime you can't expect the police to do anything. We can take the police to task if they are not doing their job but if no one reports the crime then they can use that as an excuse.

Muslims seem to be very vocal on social media but never seem to be as vocal in making their voice heard via the correct channels
