Meeting between the community, MP Stella Creasy and the Police

A very informative meeting took place after jumma between the community, MP Stella Creasy and the Police.

A lot can be said but the main points that I gained from the meeting is

-The police have assured us that following the recent incidents there will be more police presence and are doing all they can with the information presented to them. They will continue to work hard with the community to stop crime and keep everyone safe regardless of faith or nationality. We hope they stick to this by action and not word's.

The following are points that we as muslims need to take on board:

-Muslims have a responsibility to report when any crime takes place if you don't report the crime you can't expect the police to do anything. We can take the police to task if they are not doing their job but if no one reports the crime then they can use that as an excuse.

Muslims seem to be very vocal on social media but never seem to be as vocal in making their voice heard via the correct channels

- Muslims now a days LOVE to forward everything they hear or receive without confirming the facts.  This is a very very bad habit that can cause a lot of problems

Allah(swt) states in Surah Al-Isra, Verse 36:

وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا

And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not, etc.) that of which you have no knowledge (e.g. one's saying: "I have seen," while in fact he has not seen, or "I have heard," while he has not heard). Verily! The hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those you will be questioned (by Allah).

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "It is enough for a man to prove himself a liar when he goes on narrating whatever he hears.'' [Muslim]

The last hadith is a perfect model of how a Muslim should behave on social media ....DONT FORWARD NEWS UNLESS YOU HAVE CONFIRMED THE FACTS

May Allah guide us all
